The Centre on late Tuesday night raised excise duty on petrol and diesel, the second increase in a little over a month, aimed at soaking up the benefit of a sharp fall in crude prices in the last two months. But there will be no impact on consumers as the state-run oil companies have been asked to adjust the impact against their hefty margin.
