For the fourth day running, the number of Covid-19 cases in India hit a new high, with 2,900 being added on Monday as the country’s coronavirus count crossed 45,000. In a huge spike in infections, Tamil Nadu became the second state after Maharashtra to report more than 500 cases in a day. There were 99 deaths, the joint-highest for a single day along with Saturday’s toll.
