"Charmer": Elon Musk Takes A Jibe On Old Pic Of Mark Zuckerberg

Billionaires and tech titans - SpaceX boss Elon Musk and Meta's Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg - have been in the news for their rivalry. A lot of buzz was created after they responded to each other's cage match challenge. Further, the launch of Meta's Threads as Twitter's rival added fuel to the fire with Mr Musk accusing Mr Zuckerberg of "unlawful misappropriation of Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property". Now, Mr Musk has said that the Meta Chief is a "charmer" in response to a post on the microblogging website about the early days of Facebook.

X user Doge Designer took to the platform and shared a picture of a young Mark Zuckerberg working on his laptop. He can be seen flashing his middle finger in the picture. "Mark Zuckerberg during early days of Facebook: Zuck: 'Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard. Just ask. I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SMS' Friend: 'What? How'd you manage that one?' Zuck: 'People just submitted it. They trust me. Dumb fu****'" the user wrote in the caption of the post.

Since being shared, the post has amassed a variety of reactions from internet users.

Billionaire Elon Musk took a jibe at Mr Zuckerberg and wrote, "Such a charmer" alongside a smiling face emoji.

"The whole business plan of Facebook and Meta is data collection," said another person.

"Creeper is more like it," commenced a person.

Another said, "We need to see Elon vs Zuck still in the Octagon."

"It is all about money," said a user.

"He was already enthusiastic about privacy breaches back then!" remarked a user.

Flames Shoot From Engine Of Boeing Plane In Japan After Suffering Bird Hit

A plane in Japan with 122 passengers on board had to make an emergency landing after it was hit by a bird, causing its wing and engine to burst into flames. The Boeing 737-800 plane of T'Way Air flight 216 was about the land at Incheon airport in South Korea at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday last week when it ran into unexpected trouble, according to TBS News Dig, a local outlet. A bird flew into the starboard engine, seemingly getting caught in it leading to the alarming scenes.

A video of the incident surfaced on social media, where it received a lot of traction. It was a clip from local Japanese television stations that showed the plane on fire while trying to land.

The plane's starboard engine caught fire, as reported by TBS News Dig after the bird hit.

One passenger on board also filmed the video that showed flames sputtering and erupting from the plane's engine as pilot decided to carry out emergency landing. The flames were almost down to the plane's tail.

Other videos from the ground showed the burning plane soaring down through the sky, towards the airport. It had taken off from Narita International Airport in Tokyo.

Reports said the pilot was forced to abort its first landing, and carry out another.

"My hands were shaking and my family couldn't even speak a single word, so I was really scared. I don't think I'll ever be able to fly again," one unidentified passenger told TBS News Dig.

Days later, a domestic flight of Japan's All Nippon Airways returned to its departure airport after a crack was found on the cockpit window of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft mid-air.

Flight 1182 was en route to Toyama airport but headed back to the Sapporo-New Chitose airport after the crack was found on the outermost of four layers of windows surrounding the cockpit, a spokesperson for the airline said.

There were no injuries reported among the 59 passengers and six crew.

Earlier this month, a Boeing 737-9 MAX plane of Alaska Airlines faced an emergency landing after one of its doors blew open mid-air, minutes after take-off.

Every Fingerprint Is Not Unique, Reveals New AI Study

We have always heard that each fingerprint on a person's hand is unique. However, this theory is currently being contested by a Columbia University study. Recently, an artificial intelligence program was trained by a team at a US university to analyse 60,000 fingerprints in an attempt to determine which ones belonged to the same person. According to the researchers, the system can determine if fingerprints belong to a single individual with 75-90 per cent accuracy, as per a report in CNN.

Gabe Gua, an undergraduate student in Columbia's computer science programme, oversaw a research team on the topic, with University of Buffalo professor Wenyao Xu serving as one of his co-authors. Published this week in the journal Science Advances, the report seemingly upends a long-accepted fact about fingerprints. The scientists used an AI model known as a deep contrastive network, which is frequently used for tasks like face recognition, to arrive at the study's conclusions. After giving it their spin, the researchers fed the data from the US government database in pairs, some of which came from the same individual (but on different fingers) and others from different persons.

It was then discovered that fingerprints from different fingers on the same person had significant similarities. As a result, it was able to distinguish between fingerprints belonging to the same person and those that weren't, with a single pair's accuracy peaking at 77 per cent, seemingly refuting the idea that each fingerprint is distinctive.

Mr Guo said, "We found a rigorous explanation for why this is the case: the angles and curvatures at the centre of the fingerprint."  The researchers believe that the AI tool analysed the fingerprints differently than conventional techniques, emphasising the direction of the ridges in the middle of the finger rather than minutiae-the places where individual ridges stop and split. "They are great for fingerprint matching, but not reliable for finding correlations among fingerprints from the same person. And that's the insight we had," he added.

The authors acknowledged that there could be biases in the data. The study added that even while they think the AI system functions mostly the same for both racial and gender identities, more thorough research of a more comprehensive collection of fingerprints is necessary before the technology can be used in real forensics.

"The most immediate application is it can help generate new leads for cold cases, where the fingerprints left at the crime scene are from different fingers than those on file. But on the flip side, this won't just help catch more criminals. This will also actually help innocent people who might not have to be unnecessarily investigated anymore. And I think that's a win for society," he stated.

Watch: Father A Legendary Batter, Samit Dravid Turns Heads With Bowling

India men's cricket team coach Rahul Dravid is considered as one of the finest ever batters in the world. Popularly known by the nickname of 'The Wall', Dravid has featured in 164 Tests and 344 ODIs and played many match-winning knocks for Team India. Not only as a player, but Dravid has been immensely contributing to the team's success as a coach, since November 2021. His son Samit Dravid, who is currently playing in the U19 Cooch Behar Trophy for Karnataka, gave all the cricket fans a huge surprise.

Samit bowled 12 overs on Day 1 of the final match of the tournament between Karnataka and Mumbai. In total, he leaked 49 runs and went wicketless.

However, this was not the first time that the 18-year-old all-rounder made the headlines. Earlier in December, the junior Dravid grabbed everyone's attention with his powerful 98-run knock against Jammu and Kashmir in the U19 Cooch Behar Trophy match.

Talking about Dravid, the Indian coach recently gave a clarification about wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan's absence from the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

"He asked for the rest. I do not think he has made himself available for selection yet. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and officially make himself available for selection," Dravid said.

With Kishan likely to return to action for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the batter has resumed training to get himself up to pace.

Taking to Twitter, Kishan shared a video of him meditating and training on the ground.

India won the first T20I match against Afghanistan by six wickets. The second and third T20Is will be played on Sunday and Wednesday, followed by a five-match Test series against England, starting January 25.

Pics: Ex New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern Marries Partner Clarke Gayford

New Zealand's former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern married her longtime partner Clarke Gayford in a private ceremony on Saturday, finally tying the knot after cancelling ceremonies during strict COVID-19 controls she imposed on the country.

Ardern, 43, and Gayford, 47, got engaged in May 2019 and were meant to be married in early 2022, but the ceremony was cancelled due to her “go hard, go early” approach to the pandemic, which allowed New Zealand to keep deaths from the virus low.

She became a global icon for left-leaning politics and women in leadership as prime minister from 2017 to January last year. Ardern, one of just two women to have a baby as national leaders, took her daughter to a United Nations meeting.

The wedding took place in Hawke's Bay at Craggy Range Winery on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, about 310 km (190 miles) north of the capital Wellington, an Ardern spokesperson said by email.

Official photos showed a smiling Ardern wearing a white halter neck dress, while Gayford wore a black suit. They tied the knot in front of some 50 to 75 guests, news site Stuff reported.

Among the guests was Ardern's successor as prime minister Chris Hipkins, the current opposition leader, the New Zealand Herald said.

Hawke's Bay is home to a number of internationally known wineries and is an important horticultural area.

Ardern for the past six month has been undertaking three fellowships at Harvard University.

She is a trustee of Prince William's Earthshot Prize and a special envoy for the Christchurch Call - a network seeking to "eliminate terrorist and violent extremist content online". It was set up after a massacre targeting Muslims, for which Ardern's sympathetic response won applause.

In her final speech in parliament, Ardern told Gayford, a New Zealand television presenter, "Let's finally get married.” The couple's daughter Neve, is five years old.
