Brazil Politician Mistakenly Joins Online Meeting While Sitting On Toilet

A three-time mayor of Brazil's Rio de Janeiro was caught joining an online meeting on Wednesday while sitting on the toilet, as per a report in the Independent. Cesar Maia, the former mayor of the city hall in Rio de Janeiro, had logged in for his Zoom conference with other council members. However, the politician quickly realised his error after the other participants of the meeting noticed that he had his trousers around his ankles. Mr Maia then hurriedly grabbed his device to show his face.

Videos going viral on social media show Pablo Mello, the councillor leading the session, surprised by the incident. He then asked the former mayor to turn his camera off. Notably, the live session was about a bill to designate Mirante da Rocinha as a cultural heritage site.

Later, Mr Maia's office issued a statement and rendered an apology. According to his press office, the 78-year-old "suddenly felt unwell" and this "damaged his perception of the camera," as per a Sky News report.

However, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In December 2023, Indian-American entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy was caught in an embarrassing moment during a live X Spaces chat with SpaceX and Tesla Chief Elon Musk, US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and several others. The chat had around 2.3 million listeners tuned in.

During the session, Mr Rawaswamy interrupted Mr Musk and said, "Gentleman, I have to go," while the latter was sharing his opinions about getting Infowars founder Alex Jones back on the social media network. Meanwhile, as the session progressed, several people pointed out that they could hear the sounds of rushing water in the background. "Someone's got their thing open peeing. Somebody's got their phone in the bathroom," Alex Jones pointed out. As per the recording of the Spaces chat shared on the platform, Host Mario Nawfal said, "Vivek, that's your phone. But I am not able to mute you." Mr Ramaswamy quickly realised what had happened and immediately apologised for the embarrassing moment.

Mr Musk added, "I hope you feel better now". Replying to the same, Mr Ramaswamy said, "I feel great. Sorry about that guys."

"Kya Karu Haaye Kuch Kuch Hota Hai": Kajol's Donut Day Video Is Too Good

Donuts and a hot cup of coffee are match made in food heaven. The gooey texture of the sweet meat is the perfect way to welcome the weekend. Don't you agree? Well, at least Kajol does. After all, it's National Donut Day. The actress has shared a fun video to celebrate the special moment. The clip showed her playfully taking a donut into her mouth and then pulling it back out, all in the loop of a Boomerang. For the background, she has picked the track from her blockbuster film - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The caption read, “Kya karu haaye kuch kuch hota hai”, accompanied by the hashtag “#DonutWorryBeHappy.”

Donut lovers rushed to the comments of Kajol's playful reel.

A user said, “You already made my day,”

Another user cleverly wrote, “I donut know what I would do without you Kajol.”

“Thanks for bringing the cheer,” a comment read.

Someone else joked, “Mera favourite donut, de de mujhe [Give me my favourite donut].”

National Donut Day, celebrated on the first Friday of June, is a delightful tribute to one of the world's favourite sweet treats – the donut. Originating in the United States, this sugary bun was first founded by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honour the "Doughnut Lassies," women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. Over the years, World Donut Day has grown into a global event.

Employee Gets HR Warning For Using Instagram During Office Hours

A LinkedIn user recently shared how his friend Rishika received a warning mail from her company's HR department. The mail highlighted Rishika's use of Instagram during office hours, and also how she used Netflix, Naukri.com, and Ajio.com during work, despite a prior casual warning for watching Babil Khan interviews on duty.

The email also stated that several colleagues reported Rishika and another employee, Shreya, for taking coffee pouches, sugar sachets, Maggi, forks, and disposable plates from the office pantry for personal use.

A screenshot of the mail is now going viral on social media, sparking a debate.

The company's message to her stated, "Please remember, we already gave you a casual warning last week when you were caught watching Babil Khan interviews while on duty! Many of your colleagues have also reported that you and Shreya carry coffee pouches, sugar sachets, Maggi, forks, and disposable plates from the pantry for personal use. Please note that stealing products from office property is strictly prohibited."

See the post here:

While many agreed with HR and emphasised the importance of respecting company property and time, others were amused at the situation and empathised with Rishika.

One user said, ''I believe HR has a valid point. Taking small items without permission is not acceptable. Earning money hourly but squandering it is not justifiable.''

Another commented, ''That's a tough situation. It's good that they communicated their concerns. Maybe it's a chance to revisit how to balance personal time and work. Hope it gets sorted out smoothly.''

A third said, ''I think the HR is right! Sumit Mishra. Engaging in theft, regardless of the scale, is unacceptable behaviour that undermines trust and integrity in the workplace.''

A fourth added, ''such a clear communication and highly required as well !company provides salary for working, not for our extra curricular activities.. and to steal company property, is showing poor mindset!''

A fifth stated, ''this reflects pettiness of company HR and also shames employee. What if before writing an email or viewing camera recording, HR would have deemed it fit to call both of them for a one on one session. Who has made laughing stock of whom? any guesses!''

"Not That He Bowled...": Gavaskar's Blunt Take On Hardik's 3-Wicket Haul

Hardik Pandya wore a blue jersey on Wednesday but this time the crowd cheered him instead of jeering the all-rounder. The blue jersey Pandya donned on Wednesday was that of India's, and not the deep blue of Mumbai Indians in which he stood in the face of an intense storm during the IPL 2024. Here, Pandya played a key role with his fast-medium stuff that got him three wickets and "enjoyed hitting the stumps."

"Always special to play for the country, WC is something I've been able to contribute," Hardik told broadcasters during the innings break during India's T20 World Cup match against Ireland.

Having endured the most horrifying two and half months of his cricket career as MI skipper, Pandya once again looked at home in India blues.

He bowled those four invaluable overs which his skipper Rohit Sharma will need more in the coming days to maneuver the moving pieces in his team combination.

Later, Sunil Gavaskar was asked about the tough two months that he endured at the IPL. "When you are playing for India it's huge. It's humongous. The way he was running in, what was impressive was that he bowled his four over on the trot. Not that he bowled two overs and took a break. That is a test that also had to be run. He has also come through that test very, very impressively," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

On a helpful track, he bowled 72 percent deliveries (as per pitch map) either on length or just short of good length.

Out of 72 percent, 44 percent was pitched on good length, which allowed the ball to swing and also get movement off the surface.

"I really liked the first wicket. Generally, don't hit the stumps often, I have a tendency to bowl back of a length. But on this wicket, I needed to be a lot fuller to be in the game. Yes, if you bowl short, the ball may fly," Pandya said.

While the first dismissal of Lorcan Tucker saw the ball tail in and knock the middle stump off, Curtis Campher was done in by a delivery that pitched on length and seamed away.

Having faced relentless trolling on social media and booed at each and every Indian venue, the loud cheer of approval for his stupendous bowling show must have been music to his ears.

"It's always fantastic to see crowd supporting us, we Indians are everywhere, we rule the world. Good to have so much support, many thanks to them," he said

US Approves Sale Of F-16 Parts Worth $80 Million To Taiwan

The U.S. State Department has approved the sale to Taiwan of F-16 fighter jet spare and repair parts for an estimated $80 million, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said on Wednesday.

The sale will help "improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, and economic progress in the region," the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.

Taiwan's defense ministry thanked the United States and said the sale would boost the combat and defense needs of its air force. The ministry said the sale would be finalized in July.

"With normalized gray-zone harassments, the Chinese Communist Party attempted to squeeze our naval and air training space and response time, as well as limiting our rights of self-defense," it said in a statement.

China has repeatedly demanded the United States, Taiwan's most important arms supplier, halt the sale of weapons to the island, which Beijing claims as its own territory over Taipei's strong objection.

China's defense ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Talking to reporters in parliament on Thursday, Taiwan Defence Minister Wellington Koo said Taiwan must boost its self defense capabilities to be a part of "effective deterrence" in the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy.

"But for Taiwan-U.S. military cooperation, there are many things we can only do, not tell," he said.
